….you become Bulletproof
Use the 4th Agreement… practice, repeat, practice, repeat….
…you become Relentless
Assignment:
A… Read the Awareness & Emotions section
B… Read the Love section, Read the 5th Agreement and Belief section
Implementing the 4 Agreements is the start of awareness. Seeing how the ego controls them. You understand its their ego movie, they are the creator, producer and star, it has nothing to do with you, it’s their image of you. Look for the signs and their real intention behind their words. By being the observer of your thoughts and emotions. By not automatically reacting, getting frustrated or mad, saying or doing something dumb. You wait to respond with wisdom or choose to say nothing or to agree. Now many people won’t say anything because they don’t want to have a conflict or other reasons why they don’t reply. That’s not awareness.
END OF BASIC COURSE
Concept of yourself is everything that you believe to be true. And everything that you believe to be true about yourself has landed you precisely where you live and breathe every day of your life. Your beliefs about yourself are like the ingredients in a recipe that you use to create your self-concept.
Those ingredients or beliefs fall into two specific categories: your outer self-concept and your inner self-concept.
Here are the three primary maps of the mind:
Self-image ― how we see ourselves
Social status ― what others expect of us
Beliefs ― what we believe to be true
The most important agreements are the ones you made with yourself. In these agreements you tell yourself who you are, what you feel, what you believe, and how to behave. Most only see and feel the body.
We believe and that is who I Am.
We live and worry in the game of survival, this material world we have co-created
Simplicity, patience, compassion. These three are your greatest treasures.
Simple in actions and thoughts, you return to the source of being.
Patient with both friends and enemies, you accord with the way things are.
Compassionate toward yourself, you reconcile all beings in the world.
Virtue does not imply moral superiority, it implies authenticity and innate power. Our innate power arises from within our authentic (original) self and expresses itself functionally.
To connect to your heart one must be self aware of your feelings and to perceive their meaning. Meaningful reflection of the soul comes from the heart or inside yourself.
Soul
Everything and everyone has a soul.
Soul is the image-free energy within each individual. Soul is immortal and timeless. Soul cannot be bought or sold, nor can it be killed or destroyed. Soul can be likened to water in that it is formless as a gas but mutable as a liquid. Like the way frozen water maintains the form of its container, Soul also takes on the dimensions of its container. Soul provides the possibility of unfoldment.
When Soul energy is used responsibly, in alignment with its pure nature, great love, integrity, and service are possible. Soul is not the self, although the self is constructed of Soul energy.
Your soul, manifests in your emotional life, in your feelings and in your subconscious.
The entanglement of the soul/Spirit, mind and body makes it hard to separate. So again we talk and use the words interchangeable. Everything in the uniiverse has a soul, but only life-forms have spirits. The soul is the image-free energy that is in each individual. Plants and animals, planets and stars have souls. Humans also have a soul. The soul is immortal and timeless, and each individual is responsible for its own soul. A soul cannot be bought or sold, nor can it be killed or destroyed. When the soul’s energy is used responsibly, with love and integrity, great service to other souls is possible. The soul is not the self. It’s only when one sees through the self that the true power of the soul begins to shine through. The ideal of your soul, the thing that it yearns for, is not more knowledge. It is not interested in comparison, nor winning, nor light, nor ownership, nor even happiness. The ideal of your soul is space, expansion, and immensity, and the one thing it needs more than anything else is to be free to expand, to reach out and to embrace the infinite. Why? Because your soul is infinity itself. It has no restrictions or limitations—it resists being fenced in—and when you attempt to contain it with rules and obligations, it is miserable. Self-concept, one that is inspired by your soul. You have a body, it expresses as you in form, and the soul that you exist through is in expression as it.
Spirit
Spirit permeates form and is form itself.
The spirit is the self-image-template of the individual life-form within the multiverse. When the physical body dies, there is still a personal image that one perceives. This image looks very similar to the body. This gives the ability to see the similarity between the spirit and the physical appearance of the old body.
The spirit, like the self, is entirely made up of Soul energy. We could say that spirit and Soul are different phases of the same energy.
We can think of the self as a temporary construct that serves functionality within the immediate incarnation. Because the self is meant to serve functionality in the world, it contains much more detailed information than does the spirit.
The self is found entirely in physical memory. The spirit contains overarching themes such as incarnational memory, incarnational/unfoldment trajectory, virtues, vices, talents, passions, et cetera.
By contrast, the self contains much more specific information that is subject to rapid change relative to the information held in the spirit. The information of the self includes your personal name, likes, dislikes, proclivities, specific knowledge, tastes, preferences expressed in the five senses, and so on.
But... Any profound change will only come about by the identity/ego committing itself to wanting the change, and trusting in the processes of the involuntary spiritual self to bring it about. What is needed first, awareness of the soul, and then awareness of the spirit, the inner most aspect of your soul....
Every decision that you make either moves you toward your true personality, or toward your soul. It is about awareness of your soul and thinking within yourself or from your heart or souls personality not outwardly or from your ego personality.
Ultimately it’s having the wisdom, rationality and will to have only desires or intentions from the heart or soul. Then to stay the course and create with the mind from what the heart truly wants. The body then experiences the creation that the heart related to the mind. This where awareness, living in the moment or being aware of our conscious decisions comes into play. Not to let old unconscious and outdated automated programs run us. To be aware of the soul or heart. To get the mind to use the souls desires or playbook into the game. Not to let the physical world or selfish ego mind be the quarterback, but to bench him in favor of the soul or love based aspect in being the quarterback.
It is not about change. It's about transformation.
“There is a world within–a world of thought and feeling and power; of light and beauty, and although invisible, its forces are mighty.” Charles Haanel
The spiritual self: becoming conscious
“You are not a human being having a spiritual experience. You are a spiritual being having a human experience.” ~WDyer
Your higher self is that aspect of your soul that is in you, but it is not the fullness of your soul. It is a smaller soul self. Therefore, “higher self” is another term for “soul,” yet the soul is more than the higher self.
Picture a cup, a gallon, and a water tank
The water tank is the soul
An aspect of the soul becomes a gallon. That gallon is still soul, but not the fullness of the soul. It is that part of the soul that is on mission, so to speak.
The personality is the cup
The cup contacts the gallon, the higher self soul, but not the full-bodied water tank.
Communication between the personality and its soul is an in-house intuitive process. It is a process that is organic to your own internal system. For example, decision making, which is your process, can be an intuitive process in which you pull data from your mind, your heart, and your intuition, relying upon the guidance of your higher self. Each of these sources is part of your own system of energy.
It is invisible and is the connection to the light, the field of intention, to God. etc... Self awareness allows us access to this part. Only an awareness of your feelings can open your heart. Thinking with the heart not the mind or intellect. We need our intellect to deal with the ego and help us make decisions in our survival while in the physical world. But the wisdom of our spirit/soul or heart should be our primary choice in our thought and response in all of our goals and relationships. Conscious mind is also where the thought, free will, self will and rationality resides. So the mind (with reason)must eventualy understand and relenquish control of the mind and body over to the heart or soul.
Spirituality has nothing to do with religion and it does not reject any religious beliefs either. Spirituality is about a person’s identity based on their values, and desires. It may be helpful to think of the emotional and mental self as the feelings and thoughts of the physical person. The spiritual self is the doorway or interconnectedness of those thoughts and feelings to your spirits feelings & thoughts that only consist of the goodness and truth of love. The spiritual self resides directly within the realm of feelings. In order to know something spiritually, you must experience it, there is no other way—you cannot simply think your way to a new awareness or transformation. You must experience it, and the only vehicle you have for directly experiencing a new and higher vision for yourself are your feelings.
One cannot grasp the truth of this from the light of the physical world, because this light does not reveal to us the laws of the divine design. Nothing comes into being from itself, but rather from something prior, so everything comes from one primary entity. Everything constantly continues to exist in the same way that it came into being, because continued existence is a perpetual coming into being. Inflow happens according to the divine design. This makes it possible for us to see that everything is continuing to exist from the primary and underlying reality, because it came into being from that underlying reality. Every bit of life flows in from that primary underlying reality because that is its source.
Intuition, the conscience and love reside in our soul. Intuition is perception beyond the physical senses that is meant to assist you. It is that sensory system which operates without data from the five senses. When you leave your body, you will leave behind the intuitional system that was developed for you, as you will leave behind your personality, because it will no longer be necessary. Intuition serves many purposes. Intuition serves survival. It prompts you to pursue that which has no apparent reason in order to survive. Hunches about danger, for example, about what is risky and what is not, about which street is safe to walk and which is not, or about checking the car under the hood, help you to remain in the physical world. Intuition serves creativity. It tells you what book to buy for your project. It tells you where to meet the colleague that you need to meet, and which ideas from one field will complement which ideas from another. Intuition serves inspiration. It is the sudden answer to a question. It is the meaning that takes form in the fog of confusion. It is the Light that comes to the darkness. It is the presence of the Divine. Intuition can be thought of as a type of wiring that can be used by various sources. One of these sources is the soul. Intuition is a walkie-talkie, so to speak, between the personality and the soul. This happens through the higher self. In the creation of a personality, the soul calibrates parts of itself, reduces parts of itself, to take on the human experience.
Our soul is always good, always true, always loving. It's the real truth of our being. Our spoul is deeper than the personality psyche; it is the core or essence of our being. The soul is only potential, until one can figure out how to tap into this inner resource.
The spirit usually has at least some subtle influence on the personality and psyche, but it is quite possible for a person to go through life without ever really being conscious of the inner soul.
The majority of the time the self-will, selfish “I” in us, the little ego, think and act with many other earthly desires other than Love.
Consciousness is awareness and awareness is paying attention.
Your conscious mind is the awareness you have only in the current moment. It's aware of our body, environment and time. This is your awareness of your current surroundings, your current thoughts and emotions, the physical sensations in your body, whether or not you’re hungry, etc...
Your mind changing shape is not the problem – changing direction is the problem. Fix the direction for your life all by yourself. Fix your direction, whatever this direction may be. After that, it should not change every day. The most fantastic aspect of the human mind is it can change shape any moment, in any way. That only becomes a problem if you mistake shape for direction.
That is what is happening in people’s lives. If you fix your direction, you can let your mind change its shape any number of times without any problem. Once the direction is fixed, changing the shape of the mind will lead to creativity.
Your higher self is a piece of an all-loving, all-embracing creative Source. Your higher self is just what it says: higher than your false self, higher than your material physical self. It is the part of you that is aligned with your very Source of being. The ego is all about protection, self-serving, ownership, winning, judging, and so on.
The higher self is about serving, loving, and being in a nonjudgmental state of peace. Spiritual living, feeling, being, and inner experience is an altogether different matter, and can be experienced only after the inner world of feeling has been explored and understood. The inner world is the only reality that counts. It determines your material life just as much as your spiritual life, as you will find out more and more on this path. You can see clearly, as a consequence of this work, that your inner problems are responsible for your outer ones. In your analysis you will realize that you must apply spiritual values, which to now you have applied more to actions and thoughts than to feelings, to your inner life. In order to spotlight the feelings without courting the dangers of self-judgment, more substantial growth has to take place.
True development is indicated when your inner life corresponds to what you all know to be right, good, true, and loving. However, since feelings cannot be controlled by an effort of will, you cannot simply influence and control them as you do actions and thoughts.
Only if and when you completely understand your unconscious reactions and therefore control them, can you safely take a spiritual approach to your emotions. This path you are taking is bound to bring to the fore all distorted motives, no matter how deeply hidden and unconscious. Thereby, your soul will become healthy and free. This, in turn, will enable you to experience the truth you need to have and to know, rather than accepting it with your intellect only.
Experience and concepts are activities in consciousness: (SIFT) sensation, images, feeling, thought. Thought is interpretation of the experience which then forms a perception/mind or memory. Consciousness eternally modifies itself as experience in the form of matter/energy. Mind, body, universe. This is who we are...infinite possibilities.
Human beings who function harmoniously have developed the physical, mental, and emotional sides of their nature. This part is more on understanding the emotional side. It includes, first of all, the capacity to feel. The capacity to experience feeling is synonymous with the capacity to give and receive happiness.
One must identify with a deeper, broader, and more effective aspect of the self in order to even believe in the possibility of such a change.........
"Thinking with your heart" the heart center—the center of oneness, wholeness, creativity, and where the soul and heart intersects with the unified field—and bring to the center elevated emotions such as gratitude, joy, inspiration, love, etc...think of a past experience of one of these and focus on this emotion. The heart is the biggest electromagnetic organ in our physical mind/body.
By re-seting our attention and creating an elevated emotion within our heart, we begin to change the energy field surrounding our bodies.
The normal process for spiritual evolution is two steps forward, one step back. The creation is set up to test our awareness cyclically. Once we have pursued and learned a lesson of love once, whether it be patience, faith, the right use of will or whatever other lesson is ours. We Players can count upon being tested repeatedly. There is no promise of any sort of once-gained- permanent-forever enlightenment. We will be working with our catalyst, improving our polarity and our balance, right up to our last breath. It will never be effortless to remain in our open hearts. But it will be increasingly easy to do so.
Self-Strength
The universe is full of love. Truth is love and love is truth. The freedom of your own spirit will be found in truth and love.
True love and true faith come out of strength, self-reliance, and self-responsibility. All these are attributes of emotional maturity.
And only with strength, self-reliance, and self-responsibility are true love, involvement, and faith possible.
Perception & Changing Beliefs
The perception of goodness is not knowledge, but the denial of the opposite of goodness enables you to recognize a condition in which opposites do not exist. And this is the condition of knowledge. Without this awareness you have not met its conditions, and until you do you will not know it is yours already. You have made many ideas that you have placed between yourself and your Creator, and these beliefs are the world as you perceive it. Truth is not absent here, but it is obscure. You do not know the difference between what you have made and what God created, and so you do not know the difference between what you have made and what you have created. To believe that you can perceive the real world is to believe that you can know yourself. You can know God because it is His Will to be known. The real world is all that the Holy Spirit has saved for you out of what you have made, and to perceive only this is salvation, because it is the recognition that reality is only what is true.
When you perceive the real world, you will recognize that you did not believe it. The Bible tells you to become as little children. Little children recognize that they do not understand what they perceive, and so they ask what it means. Do not make the mistake of believing that you understand what you perceive, for its meaning is lost to you. Yet the Holy Spirit has saved its meaning for you, and if you will let Him interpret it, He will restore to you what you have thrown away. Yet while you think you know its meaning, you will see no need to ask it of Him.
Remember what was said about the frightening perceptions of little children, which terrify them because they do not understand them. If they ask for enlightenment and accept it, their fears vanish. But if they hide their nightmares they will keep them. It is easy to help an uncertain child, for he recognizes that he does not understand what his perceptions mean. Yet you believe that you do understand yours. Little child, you are hiding your head under the cover of the heavy blankets you have laid upon yourself. You are hiding your nightmares in the darkness of your own false certainty, and refusing to open your eyes and look at them.
You do not know the meaning of anything you perceive. Not one thought you hold is wholly true. The recognition of this is your firm beginning. You are not misguided; you have accepted no guide at all. Instruction in perception is your great need, for you understand nothing. Recognize this but do not accept it, for understanding is your inheritance. Perceptions are learned, and you are not without a Teacher. Yet your willingness to learn of Him depends on your willingness to question everything you learned of yourself, for you who learned amiss should not be your own teacher. No one can withhold truth.
The Holy Spirit uses your perception and rational mind to show you the truth. But you must be open and willingly to learn. The Holy Spirit will answer every specific problem as long as you believe that problems are specific. His answer is both many and one, as long as you believe that the one is many.
Everything you perceive as the outside world is merely your attempt to maintain your ego identification, for everyone believes that identification, their personality is who they are.
Yet consider what has happened, for thoughts do have consequences to the thinker. You have become at odds with the world as you perceive it, because you think it is antagonistic to you. This is a necessary consequence of what you have done. You have projected outward what is antagonistic to what is inward, and therefore you would have to perceive it this way. That is why you must realize that your hatred is in your mind and not outside it before you can get rid of it; and why you must get rid of it before you can perceive the world as it really is.
You have been told not to make error real, and the way to do this is very simple. If you want to believe in error, you would have to make it real because it is not true. But truth is real in its own right, and to believe in truth you do not have to do anything. Understand that you do not respond to anything directly, but to your interpretation of it. Your interpretation thus becomes the justification for the response. That is why analyzing the motives of others is hazardous to you. If you decide that someone is really trying to attack you or desert you or enslave you, you will respond as if he had actually done so, having made his error real to you. To interpret error is to give it power, and having done this you will overlook truth.
There is but one interpretation of motivation that makes any sense. And because it is the Holy Spirit’s judgment it requires no effort at all on your part. Every loving thought is true. Everything else is an appeal for healing and help, regardless of the form it takes. Can anyone be justified in responding with anger to a brother’s plea for help? No response can be appropriate except the willingness to give it to him, for this and only this is what he is asking for. Offer him anything else, and you are assuming the right to attack his reality by interpreting it as you see fit. Perhaps the danger of this to your own mind is not yet fully apparent. If you believe that an appeal for help is something else you will react to something else. Your response will therefore be inappropriate to reality as it is, but not to your perception of it.
It is surely good advice to tell you not to judge what you do not understand. No one with a personal investment is a reliable witness, for truth to him has become what he wants it to be. If you are unwilling to perceive an appeal for help as what it is, it is because you are unwilling to give help and to receive it.
There is nothing to prevent you from recognizing all calls for help as exactly what they are except your own imagined need to attack. It is only this that makes you willing to engage in endless “battles” with reality, in which you deny the reality of the need for healing by making it unreal. You would not do this except for your unwillingness to accept reality as it is, and which you therefore withhold from yourself.
If you would look upon love, which is the world’s reality, how could you do better than to recognize, in every defense against it, the underlying appeal for it? And how could you better learn of its reality than by answering the appeal for it by giving it? The Holy Spirit’s interpretation of fear does dispel it, for the awareness of truth cannot be denied. Thus does the Holy Spirit replace fear with love and translate error into truth. And thus will you learn of Him how to replace your dream of separation with the fact of unity. For the separation is only the denial of union, and correctly interpreted, attests to your eternal knowledge that union is true.
Overcoming Perceptual Biases
The 4 Agreements is the best method used with the heart-mind exercises
As human beings we suffer from a number of unconscious biases that can greatly distort our perception of ourselves, others, society, and the world. Generally speaking, we suffer from three primary categories of bias:
instinctive negativity bias
emotional bias
value bias
To improve the quality of our lives, we are wise to become aware of these biases and how they affect our perception and reactions.
Instinctive Negativity Bias:
The human being has an unconscious bias toward negative awareness, which is to say we are much more motivated to avoid a loss than we are motivated to gain something. Simply put, people are more motivated to express negativity than to express positivity.
Emotional Bias:
Alongside the tendency to prioritize negativity over positivity, people also engage in emotional bias, which complicates matters even more. If, for example, we are in a very positive emotional state, such as when someone tells us something we really want to hear, we tend to notice only the positive things around us and overlook the negativity. But if we are in a very negative emotional state, we hyperfocus on whatever is perceived as negative around us, no matter how trivial, and tend to miss anything that could be perceived as positive.
Recall a time when you were conversing with someone who said something that threw you off balance. You might recall not having been able to recover quickly enough to respond graciously to the person. When we are in the emotional refractory period, there is a phase when we are gripped by emotion, which causes our emotional filters to focus on whatever fits with our current emotion. People who are in love, for example, are typically unable to see the shortcomings or failings of their lovers. Another example is when you are inspired to buy a new car ― how your mind is likely to justify to you all the great things about that car while glossing over its negatives.
Value bias:
Each individual has a hierarchical set of values that determines, to a large extent, how they see and judge the reality around them. Most people assume that they have chosen their value hierarchy, but in reality the value hierarchy is largely unconscious. It stems from the momentum of the past expressing through us via genetics, personality, childhood influences, culture and ideologies we embraced without question, trauma, and other stuck emotional energies. All of these forces converge to construct the hierarchy of unconscious values that governs our lives.
Becoming aware of your highest unconscious value is vital to improving your quality of life. Whatever yours may be, it is the most dominant, motivating inner force. The key to discovering the highest of your values is to note which one, when pressured by other values, wins out. For example, if we are willing to lie for money, then we know that wealth or societal status takes higher priority in your unconscious value pyramid than does being honest. Many people say that honesty is their highest value, but in truth, there are very few individuals for whom honesty is actually their highest value. Most people will be dishonest to be kind, for example, which shows that kindness has more power within the individual than honesty.
The value you place on things is the value that it is given and that it holds. Once you change how you value things, your experience of your surroundings and those objects that you hold begins to change as well. Now we are talking right now about value of things.
But please understand that the idea of value extends far beyond things and finally becomes the system with which you navigate worth and the idea of worth. And understand that as you work with this idea, you extend it out even farther to commerce and to industry. So everything goes back, finally, to value. What kind of price do you accord something? How is it valued? Value is subjective and ninety percent of the time you are being told what you are supposed to value.
Perceptual Biases:
Notice how you may have a tendency to negatively speculate about the motives of other people who appear to have done you wrong. These negative speculations about others can happen in a flash. For instance, you might be driving along the road and have someone cut you off or drive past a stop sign out of turn. In that instant, your mind might be saying something bad about that person or their motivations. When that happens, pause and note that you have not always been a perfect driver. Recall that others have probably falsely accused you of motivations that did not reflect your reality. Maybe you accidentally went through a four way stop out of turn, absent any intention to cheat. Remind yourself that you have no way of knowing what the other person’s situation is unless they have explicitly told you about their situation and motivation.
The mind is fertile ground for concepts, ideas, and opinions. If someone tells us a lie and we believe it, that lie takes root in our mind and can grow big and strong, like a tree. One little lie can be very contagious, spreading its seeds from person to person when we share it with others.
• Knowledge goes into our mind and reproduces a structure inside our head, which is everything that we know. With all that knowledge in our head, we only perceive what we believe; we only perceive our own knowledge. And what is it that we know? Mostly lies.
• Once the Tree of Knowledge is alive in our mind, we hear the fallen angel talking very loudly. That voice never stops judging. It tells us what is right and what is wrong, what is beautiful and what is ugly. The storyteller is born inside our head, and survives inside our head because we feed it with our faith.
• Heaven exists when our spiritual eyes are open, when we perceive the world through the eyes of truth. Once lies hook our attention, our spiritual eyes are closed. We fall from the dream of heaven and begin to live the dream of hell.
• Heaven belongs to us because we are the children of heaven. The voice in our head doesn’t belong to us. When we are born, we don’t have that voice. Thinking comes after we learn — first the language, then different points of view, then all the judgments and lies. The voice of knowledge comes as we accumulate knowledge.
• Before we eat the lies that come with knowledge, we live in truth. We speak only truth. We live in love without any fear. Once we have knowledge, we judge ourselves as no longer good enough; we feel guilt, shame, and the need to be punished. We begin to dream lies, and we separate from God.
• In the moment when we separate from God, we begin to search for God, for the love we believe we don’t have. Humans are continually searching for justice, for beauty, for truth — for the way we used to be before we believed in lies. We are searching for our authentic self.
Most people around the world believe that there is a great conflict in the universe, a conflict between good and evil. Well, this is not true. It’s true that there is a conflict, but the conflict only exists in the human mind, not in the universe. It’s not true for the plants or the animals. It’s not true for the stars or the trees, or for the rest of nature. It’s only true for humans. And the conflict in the human mind is not really between good and evil.
The real conflict in our mind is between the truth and what is not the truth, between the truth and lies. Good and evil are just the result of that conflict. The result of believing in the truth is goodness, love, happiness. When you live your life in truth, you feel good, and your life is wonderful. The result of believing in lies and defending those lies creates what you call evil; it creates fanaticism. Believing in lies creates all of the injustice, all of the violence and abuse, all of the suffering, not only in society but also in the individual. The universe is as simple as it is or it is not, but humans complicate everything.”
All of the drama you suffer in your personal life is the result of believing in lies, mainly about yourself. And the first lie you believe is you are not: You are not the way you should be, you are not good enough, you are not perfect. We are born perfect, we grow up perfect, and we will die perfect, because only perfection exists. But the big lie is that you are not perfect, that nobody is perfect. So you start to search for an image of perfection that you can never become. You will never reach perfection in that way because that image is false. It’s a lie, but you invest your faith in that lie, and then you build a whole structure of lies to support it.”
“The truth needs to be experienced. Humans have the need to describe, to explain, to express what we perceive, but when we experience the truth, there are no words to describe it.
Whoever claims, ‘This is the truth,’ is lying without even knowing it. We can perceive truth with our feelings, but as soon as we try to describe it with words, we distort it, and it’s no longer the truth.
It’s our story! It’s a projection based on reality that is only true for us, but still we try to put our experience into words, and this is something wonderful, really. It’s the greatest art of every human.”
If you are an artist, a painter, you try to express what you perceive through your art. What you paint may not be exactly what you perceive, but it is close enough to remind you of what you perceive. Well, imagine that you are very lucky and you are Pablo Picasso’s friend. And because Picasso loves you, he decides to make a portrait of you. You pose for Picasso, and after many days, he finally shows you your portrait. You will say, ‘This is not me,’ and Picasso will say, ‘Of course it is you. This is how I see you.’ For Picasso, this is true; he is expressing what he is perceiving. But you will say, ‘I don’t look like that.’ “Well, every human is the same as Picasso.
Every human is a storyteller, which means that every human is an artist. What Picasso does with colors, we do with words. Humans witness life happening inside us and all around us, and we use words to make a portrait of what we witness.
Humans make up stories about everything we perceive, and just like Picasso we distort the truth; but for us, it is the truth. Of course, the way we express our distortion could be something other people enjoy. Picasso’s art is highly valued by many people. “All humans create their story with their own unique point of view.
Why try to impose your story on other people when for them your story is not true?
When you understand that, you no longer have the need to defend what you believe. It’s not important to be right or to make others wrong. Instead, you see everybody as an artist, a storyteller.
You know that whatever they believe is just their point of view. It has nothing to do with you.”
There is a conflict in the human mind between the truth and what is not the truth, between the truth and lies. The result of believing in the truth is goodness, love, happiness.
The result of believing and defending lies is injustice and suffering — not only in society, but also in the individual.
• All of the drama humans suffer is the result of believing in lies, mainly about ourselves. The first lie we believe is I am not: I am not the way I should be, I am not perfect. The truth is that every human is born perfect because only perfection exists.
• We humans have no idea what we really are, but we know what we are not. We create an image of perfection, a story about what we should be, and we begin to search for a false image. The image is a lie, but we invest our faith in that lie. Then we build a whole structure of lies to support it.
• Faith is a powerful force in humans. If we invest our faith in a lie, that lie becomes truth for us. If we believe we are not good enough, then thy will be done, we are not good enough. If we believe we will fail, we will fail, because that is the power and magic of our faith.
• Humans can perceive truth with our feelings, but when we try to describe the truth, we can only tell a story that we distort with our word. The story may be true for us, but that doesn’t mean it is true for anyone else.
• All humans are storytellers with their own unique point of view. When we understand this, we no longer feel the need to impose our story on others or to defend what we believe. Instead, we see all of us as artists with the right to create our own art.
We co-create with God, with life. God creates what is real, and I create the virtual reality inside my mind. Through light, life sends all of that information into my eyes, and I make a story about what I perceive. The story is how I qualify, justify, and explain what I perceive. If I see a tree, I don’t just see the tree; I qualify the tree, I describe the tree, I have an opinion about the tree. I like the tree or I don’t like the tree. I may feel that the tree is beautiful or not, but my point of view, my opinion about the tree, is a story of my own creation. Once we interpret, qualify, or judge what we perceive, it is no longer real; it is a virtual world. This is what the Toltec call dreaming.
The dream is a world of illusion made by images of light, and the mind dreams when the brain is both asleep and awake.
“Every head is a world,” and it’s true. You live in your own world, and that world is so private. Nobody knows what you have in your world. Only you know, and sometimes even you don’t know. Your world is your creation, and it’s a masterpiece of art.
There is only one way to change our story, and that is by changing what we believe about ourselves.
You are the only one who can change your story, and you do this by changing your relationship with yourself. You are dreaming the story of your life, and I can assure you that it’s an art. Your art is the art of creating stories and sharing stories. If I met you today, I would see the real you behind your story. I would see you as the force of life creating art through you.
Your story could be the best screenplay for any movie because all of us are professional storytellers. But I know that whatever you tell me is just a story. I don’t have to believe your story, but I can listen to your story and enjoy it. I can go to the movies to see The Godfather, and I don’t believe it, but I can enjoy it, right?
The denial of the Divine, the only true problem humanity has ever faced, has been its own creation. But it has been so real, and continues to be so real for many of us, that we reinforce it by our agreement to it.
Masks
The idea of narrative and the recycling of history is, in fact, an attribute of the small self that can only know itself through history. In other words, the small self or the mask only understands what it has been taught prior. When you begin to release the mask you have worn, which is the idea of self, and just the idea, the evidence that the small self has accrued to maintain identity is actually relinquished in offering. The release of the mask, which you will undergo, is a challenging process because the mask has been hiding much. You don’t want your neighbors to know how you feel. You don’t want your husband to know what you did. You don’t want that memory to become public knowledge. The aspect of self that seeks to maintain the mask actually claims itself in shadow, because the shadowed nature of uncertainty continues itself in agreement to a denial of the light.
Now, when the light comes and all things are made new, this must be inclusive of any aspect of self that you have denied, chosen to agree to in fear, to sublimate or repress or deny. When the mask is released, what the mask has held will move towards liberation. And when these things happen you are often confronted with the realization that who you thought you were, what you thought you were, in any regard, was an illusion. The idea of self, finally, is illusion. It is a useful mandate for transaction. “My illusion meets your illusion. We have an illusory conversation about what we believe to be important.” But you also understand that you are not the mask, and that the True Self as you, finally, is who and what is expressing in any situation.
New beliefs
Everything taught thus far has been in agreement to one truth. You are not separate from God, but believe yourselves to be.
And the process of alignment, in sequence, through energetic attunement, has been brought to you in a design that you may attend to, each step of the way, through your own agreement to what exists, and who, in fact, you are in agreement to that in a higher accord.
Dominion at the level we teach surpasses what you were taught otherwise. “I should get what I want.” Instead, you become the recipient of the Kingdom. You move to grace, because you are in supply in agreement to the Source of all things. And because you now operate in knowing, and knowing means realization, the claim is made for you through your alignment to your own inherent nature.
When you are truly being, you are expressing in infinite time, in the mode of infinity, in the awareness of the clock to understand where you are in relation to others, but well beyond it. In other words, friends, the Infinite Self is known beyond time, and your agreement to form, in manifestation, supports you in being able to attend to this while embodied.
The changes you undertake are, in many ways, the realization that what you thought was real, or perhaps righteous, or perhaps necessary, was not at all.
The idea of God as all things does not supplant the idea that there may not be a God that can be known in a deeply personal way. In fact the God of all that is, is also the call of the owl, or the spirit that comes in an invocation of love. You are not dismantling your old ideas, except simply releasing the meaning things have been given so you may move to a reception of what exists beyond the old, the codified, or the historic.
Imagine a light that begins to burn in the center of your heart. The illumination from that flame begins to spread through the fiber of your being to consume all aspects of self that would negate it. The light is love, but the light is also fire, transforming what it touches in a blaze of beauty. As you become this great light, as you align as this great light you are taught through, you become the vehicle of the Divine. Your realization of another is the light itself being perceived in the one who has perhaps denied it.
The consequence of denying God, the fundamental denial of the Divine, “God cannot be,” is the cause of the chasm. And that chasm was created through different things, the fear you have known, the lack of love, the lack of worth, that you attend to.
But in some ways the chasm is the direct result of idolatry. Now, we will explain idolatry to you.
This is not a religious teaching. It’s a very simple thing. What is placed before God denies God. It’s truly that simple. And what you have made your gods, be it religion, be it the economic structures you’ve known, be it the desires you hold that contribute to your denial of the Divine, whatever these things may be, they circumvent the music, or they align you to the idea of separation. Now, you know a teaching, “Thou will have no other gods before me” or “I am a jealous God.” God cannot be jealous, nor could it be angry. These are illustrations of what becomes of one who creates a false god, puts it on a small altar, and demands his or her way be done.
You are as of God because you cannot be separate from God. You can believe yourselves to be, but to know yourself as of God must imply that everyone and everything is operating in the same fashion.
The egoic structure—“Give me what I want when I want it”—is the action of fear seeking to usurp a high teaching. The fallen religions, those that have passed from these planes, held truth, yes, but also claimed hierarchy. And any church that holds a hierarchy, that one’s salvation become dependent on one teacher or on one master, is scaled in a lower frequency. All great teachings are in truth. And what is true is always true, eternally true. You would seek to limit this teaching by claiming it as a religion, or a discipleship to a master that is telling you what to do. I do not tell you what to do.
Any religion that damns another is not operating in truth. Any religion that condones the harm of another is not acting in truth. But all a religion is, is a structure to hold beliefs that may have been spoken in truth, but the walls built around them, with their murals and parapets, may have been corrupted by the fear of humanity that would seek to encase God in a temple, a church, or a mosque. Most western religions teach we are made in His likeness. We have still been taught we are still separate from God, from each other, from all things, etc…
God is in all places, and any place you know of as holy is your temple, your church.
Agree and believe or not. It matters not to me…. All are here to learn in very different ways.
There is no human being higher than the next. You have come to learn. And the highest common denominator that you will ever experience is the love of your brother with no mandate for outcome or receipt or return. To love another is to know them of Source. When one is truly loved, one is healed. But because you don’t believe you are lovable—your sinful natures perhaps, your challenging upbringing, how you were treated by this one or that one—the negation of the Divine and your ability to receive it has claimed you in a world where you’ve challenged yourself even to remember your innate divinity.
The small self, you see, who predicates his experience upon fact, what he believes to be so, will seek to find himself in any information that confirms his idea of self. Now, idea of self is the key to this, your idea of who you are, based upon what you’ve experienced and what you have been taught to agree to. Our acknowledgment of fear, that it is present, we have learned through it, been taught hard lessons by it, is also useful.
You are moving beyond things with an awareness of what you have endured and what you have learned through.
The opportunity to transcend what you have agreed to prior comes at the cost of the old, and as you align to the higher octave there is a release that ensues—discomforting, yes, but a requirement of the new.
LOVE
You perceive love to be an emotional expression, a desire met, how you feel.
When you comprehend what love is, which is the expression of God as all things, you move to the light with much ease. And the path of love for most of you will be the highest service that you can provide, and that simply means being as love, being the expression of the Divine that expresses as you in love. “I am in love, in the vibration of love, and in the expression of love.”
Now, to trust this teaching in any way, shape, or form is to be accountable to the teaching and perceive yourself as operating in frequency. If you don’t perceive yourself as operating in frequency, this will be a figment, an impossibility. But if you understand that there is all vibration in all things, and you are an expression in vibration or tone, you can begin to understand that as the tone is lifted to the higher, reconciliation occurs—the Divine as you beyond separation, in union with all things—and then you may meet all things in this awareness.
This is an act of love, and the entirety of this teaching is an act of love, if you understand the consequence of this material. This is a teaching of being. It is not a teaching of getting your way, putting more cash in your pocket, getting the man of your dreams to do what you want.
This is the teaching of alignment and reception to the Source of all things, so you serve as its conduit. Now, as its conduit, you are always agreeing, just as the faucet agrees to the water that passes through it. You are not challenged by it.
Energy Alignment
Now, if you imagine that there is music playing somewhere, but the ears cannot hear it, there may as well be silence. But we are here to teach you that the music is playing, it is playing fully, and what has prohibited you from dancing to this music is the mistaken idea that it cannot be so. Now, once you lift in vibration to a level of agreement where you can even concede that there must be something more than the form you have taken or the pain you have known, once you can agree to the possibility of God, all things may be made new, in the increments that you can hold, at the level of adjustment or attunement that you can hold, to align to the music that is ever present.
Everything exists in multiple octaves. The tone of anything in its most reduced form, that which appears concretized in your vibrational reality, still exists in the etheric world, or it is ether or spirit, manifest in form.
True love is God. It is knowing. It is compassion. It is the act of creation itself. It is not an emotion, although you confuse it as such, it is so much more. Love is the action of God as love, but love is also present in wisdom and in truth. There are many faces of the Divine, and many ways it can be accessed. To know God as love.
When you ask questions in love, when you make a claim in love, when you choose in love, you claim love. It is always the answer. To know the self in love is indeed to know the self in alignment with the truth of your being. When you have a vendetta, when you seek an action against another, you are always in a low vibrational field, and the claims of justice made in such a way perpetuate a low alignment. This is true in a culture, a civilization, and, yes, at the cost of the Divine that would now be seen.
When you perceive injustice, or you perceive someone acting in fear, you must begin to see it as opportunity to know truth in the face of the lie that is being perpetuated by the one acting in fear. The one acting in fear has lost her mind, has lost his sense of self, or alignment to love and truth, and to reconcile them is to be as love in deep forgiveness for what an imagined wrong might be. Now, we said imagined wrong intentionally. The imagination will conjure anything, and even your idea of justice is born in a misconception of right and wrong. Indeed, ownership itself, as you prescribe meaning to it, is an illusion. The bodies you have, while yours to care for, are not your bodies. They are of God. The air is of God, and the property you think you own is of God. When this is fully understood, the walls will come tumbling.
Hatred can never be of God, because God cannot hate. And the love that is God can reclaim even hatred by one who has embodied as love. To embody as love is to be love in transmission, and the acclimation to love that some of you will now undergo is an acclimation to a province that few have truly known. To become as love is to reside in the vibration of truth.
What has actually happened is that this new level of agreement you hold, which means vibrational accord, has been moved to a new level of frequency, alignment, and expression. This new attitude or belief. You are now aware that the vibrational field you have taken, is claiming itself in this new agreement. You understand and realize the rock, the grass, you, your neighbors, the tree is one with or is also a part of God.
Your own perception, becomes, in a way, an assessment of your own vibrational tone….
Lies
A lie can only hold when there are ears to receive it and senses to agree to it, or a moral code born in agreement to fear that would support it. When you understand that a lie can only be told in fear, even a lie perpetuated upon a people, you will begin to understand that the Divine Self holds a capacity that the small self never could. The small self will condone a lie, perpetuate a lie, if it is more convenient to know the lie than to accept the truth. The Divine Self cannot align to a lie. It is impossible. So as the Divine Self in a risen state, you are actually immune to a lie. It cannot hold you because there is nothing for it to be held by. The action of fear, to claim more fear, can only be perpetrated upon one who holds the vibration of fear in herself.
There is no fear in love.
You Just Know
The Choice
The belief, the choice to embody as the True Self, the Divine as who and what you are, must be comprehended by you as a choice in love. There is no fear in this choice, because there is no fear in God. The trials you have faced historically for devoting the self to Source, were the cause of much of the fear you hold now. But the prior ways of expressing, the old doctrines, are no longer holding you, and you are in fact free to lift beyond the idea of church, or religion, or doctrine that would tell you you are not allowed. To lift beyond the old, to truly be free, which you come to through the alignment of will in love. Now, to understand will is to comprehend choice and the manifestation of choice.
What is chosen in love will not defile you, cannot even harm you. The trajectory of love is love itself, and the path of love, the path of the True Self, holds for itself great promise. To deny the Divine in the self, or in anyone, is to move out of love and to claim the self in shadow. Once this occurs, you find yourself bound to your prior creations. The very things you have damned or denied the Divine in are the anchors to the lower realm. To release these anchors is to comprehend the freedom that comes in forgiveness.
Now, many of you think forgiveness is an act of weakness. “She must know what she did to me; she cannot be forgiven.” “He must pay for what he did; penance will be paid.” The old doctrines, an eye for an eye, are in an equation to an idea of karma that is born in retribution. To comprehend that like attracts like—what ye measure so shall ye mete—the alignment to the Divine calls to it its own benefit. The rising beyond the law of karma, as you have often misunderstood it, is the gift of this new attitude. This does not mean that you are not accountable to your acts. Far from it. But it does mean that your acts are now chosen in love, or quite simply the awareness of the omnipresent Divine—omnipresent, always and ever present.
The legacy of pain, historical data that informs your expectations, what you expect to experience, can indeed be cleared, as well as the memory of oppression. You are not erasing the blackboard, saying it never was. These have been your lessons and it is important not to forget them. But it is important to understand that holding a memory in Source translates not only the memory, but the act that the memory was born through.
Again: To know the Divine where the memory was held not only translates the memory, but re-creates the relationship to the impetus or event that caused the memory. In other words, you are translating the environment that has claimed you in expectations. Now, reclamation, an imperative understanding—that which has been put outside of God must now be re-known in God—must be the alignment to the present moment where God can be known.
Any memory occurs in the present moment. And all time may be known through this present moment because the Eternal Self actually exists beyond the template of time. Beyond the template of time means it is not bound to historical data. It exists beyond it, and consequently can reclaim anything in higher order—the Divine as all things, inclusive of memory, inclusive of pain, resurrected and, indeed, re-known.
The True Self as you in a newly articulated state becomes the presence of this as it can and will be held in form. Now, the denial of the Divine in the body itself is particularly destructive to humanity. A cat knows she’s holy. She doesn’t know what God is as you would know God, but she knows she is of the whole, and her body in many ways is her ideal expression. She is not trying to fix herself. If she has a wound, she will tend to it. If she is hungry, she will eat. She will defecate as needed, but live the life in the body in an awareness that it is who she is at this level of expression.
The realization of who one is, beyond a narrative that you have superimposed on the lives you have lived, releases you in all ways from an idea of self that is claimed in shadow. Re-articulation or manifestation in this higher octave reclaims identity beyond falsity, beyond the ideas of scarcity or lack, because you have gone into an agreement with the True Self, who knows far more than you were taught as a small child.
It becomes the state of being where you know, and in your knowing you act, and in this act the expression of God is known through you. Underline the word through. The self as conduit, the self as expression, the self as aligned to true purpose in love.
What stands before you is eternity. What stands before you is always ever one thing, the presence of the Divine in any form it has taken. And any experience you have in a lifetime must be understood as opportunity to know the Divine. Now, when we use the term know the Divine, we mean realize, claim, the inherent Source of all things. We do this without the religious terminology that some of you dislike, but in fact we find useful because we reclaim language as it was initially intended, and not as it has been misused by religion. To comprehend that all things are of one Source is a universal claim. It is true in every reality you could ever interact with.
The elasticity of our reality is far more than we know, and there is nothing solid in form that appears solid, and even the sky is more than sky. The sky is God, the earth is God, the air you breathe the substance of God in one form exhaled in another, the Divine as all things.
We seek to categorize our world—what is good, what is evil, what should be there, what should not. But once you Know: all things are of God—you will know the self in separation. Now, it is not a great leap as you might presuppose.
The idea of Source and substance in a unified state can be understood by you intellectually, the intellect knows but it does not understand Knowing. Logic will fail here. Faith, Hope and Love will not. This the your new foundation. Wisdom combined with Love. It is the experience that will qualify you, in your own Knowing, to Know the self as of God. And Knowing means realization. When you go to the God within, you will find the answers there.
Comprehension of a reality. Understand that phrase—to comprehend something, to give it meaning in understanding, a relational way of being in engagement. To comprehend a reality also implies that there are other realities that may be comprehended, and this is where we take you now.
Now, choice is essential. You can not disregarding past experience. We are actually utilizing it. You are not forgetting who you were. You are re-knowing who you are. And the information from history that is necessary for you will always be available, but far less available will be your attachment to it—what should be, what must be, in order to conserve an identity or a template of reality that you are now becoming. One foot in this materialistic world and one in the realm of love. Your identity is the same but yet different.
You know you are eternal energy. We are all a part of God. Everyone and everything he has created…. We are all one.
True service is the expression of the Divine in whatever form it takes. Now, to do the duty of the Divine, if you wish to use that phrase, is simply to accept it, because at this level of vibration you have moved into your knowing, and when you are in your knowing you know what to do. You know the answer before the question is asked. The gift of knowing is the primary gift, and the awareness of the Divine Will that is available to you because you have aligned to it takes questioning, in some ways, out of the equation.
This light was always present, but was precluded by the ego fog. In this way, you begin to understand that you are not the light, but the vehicle for the light’s expression. And the denial of the Divine cannot be held by the light. Visibility means that your encounter with darkness, or what has been held in shadow, will release darkness. The tone you sing at, the vibrational echo of your resonant field, can and will be anywhere that you are taken. This is not just the walk to the post office, where what you encounter is re-seen. Where your attention is, you are, at the level of vibration. And the agreement to be where you are called, to lift what you see or is there for you to claim, by nature of presence.
You are summoned to that level of vibration. You think of a trip. You imagine yourself where you go. But at this level of tone, the vibrational field you now hold, which is consciousness, is going where it is required, and its echo is translating expression to the higher tone in now holds.
Understand, that the light does not decide upon what it shines. It simply is. And at this new level of tone, you have made yourself available for this action. To be in multiple ideas of reality simultaneously is not so far off from your current experience. You have an idea of who you are that informs each walk you take, calls each thing you see into agreement with the consciousness you have held. You have dreams where you are broken free of the limitations of the physical realm. And you understand that your alignment to Source claims now you in a higher octave. All of these are ways of operating in multiple realities, although these realities are filtered by you through the brain to a level you can comprehend. You understand that every day is this opportunity for a higher level of expression. Fear is vanquished, Love is the new normal.
Truth means what is always true. The idea of oneness, or pluralization, becomes a principle that you are adhering to. Now, a principle is not an idea, as taught here, but a fundamental truth. And the truth of plurality is that you are all of the same stuff, no matter how hard you deny it. Some of you believe that you do charity, acts of good, to serve the soul’s progression. And while this is true at a certain level, in any act of charity you are being reminded of the gift of being that is always extended to another through a realization of unity or oneness. To move into this level of consciousness—unity or oneness—requires a realization that the old ideas, useful as they have been in navigating this world that you have known, are not nearly as applicable in the other. Realization of the inherent Divine in yourself claims the inherent realization of all. Realization is knowing.
When one knows who she is, the requirements of being are translated. One is no longer seeking to prove herself. One is no longer acting out of fear, or seeking to justify her acts. One is knowing and allowing. And allowing the self to be, at this level, is to become the principle, or the Word in action.
Coming to this new level of Knowledge and your recalibration of the energetic field or higher vibration. Your sense of worth, and requirements for knowing self, have moved beyond any act of generosity or craft or skill. You simply become who and what you are. And how you are perceived by another does not need to fit a descriptor that would be attached to you for the comfort of the known. The desire to align to Divine Will is Divine Will in accord with your true nature. You have become who you truly are. You are no longer aspiring to it. You may be the only that knows you are changed, and….
This is FREEDOM.
Living the Truth.
“Why did this happen?” “How did I undergo that?” “What was the purpose of this event or that one?” Everything you undergo in a life—high, low, in-between—is party to the evolution of the soul. It does not mean you chose it. It simply means you aligned and agreed to it. When you are lifting from the old, the things that you will encounter are those creations that were known by you that had residual affect on the perceptions you now hold. In some ways, what you are doing is seeing to re-see, unknowing to know. Now, to un-know, in this example, is simply to decide that the assessment that you made at one time of what something meant can be replaced by a higher knowing. There are ways you understand yourselves through events in life—the death of the parent, the birth of the child, the markers that claim you in a new trajectory. But even these things, whatever they may be, are often misunderstood.
The trajectory of a life has a patterning to it, and the soul in all ways is the keeper of this pattern, which simply means that what you have come to learn will be presented to you because you are in alignment to it. And these events of a life, which are there to support learning, will contribute to the full evolution of the soul. “Full evolution of the soul—what does that mean?”. Well, each soul undergoes a process from the time of its inception. In many ways, the learning it undergoes while in form is to contribute to the whole, the vast awareness or collective consciousness that humanity has claimed. Imagine you are one light in a million lights. Your small light contributes to the whole. And your own experiences, which seem to be in isolation, are never in isolation, because every life currently lived on this manifest plane is contributing to the whole. You believe yourselves to be separate. You are not separate. You are in an illusion of separation.
Now, to become awake does not make you more awake than the one beside you. It simply means that you are no longer obstructed by the ideas of separation. The ideas may remain in some ways, but they are not obstructive. While you maintain a body and an experience of singularity, your presence on this plane will always hold an idea of separation. But now with this new attitude and Knowledge you can overcome this and realize you are not separate from God. You respond instead of reacting from your ego. You don't defend yourself or blame and attack other people.
Use the 10 Agreements. Listen to their opinions, their ego dream, realize it's theirs not yours. It has nothing to do with you. It is their movie and they are the star of their movie not you. Look at the real reason behind their words.
You understand you are the creator, producer, and star of your movie. Still look at your actions, did you do something wrong or very selfish? If so try better next time. If required or possible apologize and fix it. Don't take their words personally. Don't judge but use discernment. Don't Assume. If you acted according to your owner's manual and in love and goodness, that's what mattered.
Ego is the real Devil
Who do I want to be? And: What path will I take? (Quod vitae sectabor iter.) The ego we see most commonly goes by a more casual definition: an unhealthy belief in our own importance. Arrogance. Self-centered ambition. It’s that petulant child inside every person, the one that chooses getting his or her way over anything or anyone else. The need to be better than, more than, recognized for, far past any reasonable utility—that’s ego. It’s the sense of superiority and certainty that exceeds the bounds of confidence and talent. We think something else is to blame for our problems (most often, other people). PRIDE, POWER, GREED. Will you use these words or ones like humbleness, love, honor, forgiveness. Which are you practicing now? What’s fueling you? What is your purpose? What are you here to do? Because purpose helps you answer the question “To be or to do?“ quite easily. Purpose, you could say, is like passion with boundaries. Realism is detachment and perspective. I have observed that those who have accomplished the greatest results are those who “keep under the body”; are those who never grow excited or lose self-control, but are always calm, self-possessed, patient, and polite. RESTRAINT
The novelist Anne Lamott describes that ego story well. “If you are not careful,” she warns young writers, “station KFKD (K-Fucked) will play in your head twenty-four hours a day, nonstop, in stereo.” Learn to shut the noise out…
It is not “Who do I want to be in life?” but “What is it that I want to accomplish in life?” Setting aside selfish interest, it asks: What calling does it serve? What principles govern my choices?
